Musqueam Indian Band Mourns the Passing of Former Chief Ernest Campbell
October 27, 2013
It is with great sadness that the Musqeam Indian Band announces the death of former Chief Ernest Campbell. Ernest served as the Chief of Musqueam for over twenty years. He was first nominated for and elected as Chief for three two-year terms in the 1980’s. He returned as Chief in the election of 1999 and held that position for 13 years until his retirement at the end of 2012.
Musqueam Indian Band mourns the loss of a great leader whose strong voice and leadership ensured that the Musqueam people’s issues were front and centre in Vancouver and British Columbia and on the National level. He led with dignity and strength and served as a powerful voice for Musqueam.
The Musqueam members are thankful for the kind words and condolences that are flooding in.
The family asks for privacy at this time as they mourn and prepare for the funeral.
